Effective date: September 26, 2026
Cherenkov Code Consulting LLC ("C3," "we," or "us") is a California limited liability company based in the Sacramento area. C3 provides building code consulting, expert witness and litigation support, and building code training, including an online ICC B1 exam-prep course. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information C3 collects through cherenkovcodeconsulting.com and its related pages (the "Site"), how C3 uses and shares it, and the choices you have.
Information you give us. When you book a course seat, fill out the contact form, request a free introductory call, or email us, C3 may collect:
Payment information. Course payments are handled by Stripe. C3 receives confirmation of your payment and basic transaction details, but C3 does not see or store your full card number.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, the Site and its hosting platform automatically collect some technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, and the date and time of your visit. This is done through cookies and similar technologies. C3 has not added any separate analytics or advertising tools, such as Google Analytics or a Facebook/Meta pixel, beyond the hosting platform's own tools.
Live class sessions. Live course and training sessions are held online using a third-party video conferencing service and are recorded. Recordings may include participants' names, voices, video (if your camera is on), and chat messages. See section 3 for how recordings are used.
Information from others. If an attorney, agency, or client engages C3 on a matter, C3 may receive information about you from them. That information is handled under the written engagement agreement for that matter, not this policy.
C3 asks that you not send confidential documents or sensitive personal information through the Site's forms. If C3 needs documents for a project or matter, we will arrange a suitable way to send them after the introductory call.
C3 uses the information described above to:
If you give C3 your mobile number and agree to receive texts, C3 may send appointment and class reminders by text. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out at any time. C3 does not use text messages for marketing, and your mobile number is not shared with third parties for their marketing.
Live sessions are recorded so enrolled students can review them or catch up on a missed session. Recordings are shared only with students enrolled in that course or participants in that training, and are not posted publicly or used for marketing without participants' permission. If you prefer not to appear in a recording, you may keep your camera off and use only your first name in the session. Recordings remain available to enrolled students for at least 6 months after the course ends, after which C3 may delete them. Students may also make their own recordings of live sessions for personal study, so what you say or show in a session may appear in another student's recording. C3 does not control those personal recordings, but students agree not to share or post them.
C3 does not sell your personal information, and C3 does not share it with others for their own marketing.
C3 shares personal information only as needed to run the business, with:
These providers may process information only to perform services for C3 and under their own privacy and security terms.
Cookies. The Site's hosting platform uses cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site and forms. You can set your browser to refuse or delete cookies, but some features, such as booking forms, may not work properly without them.
Other companies' tracking. C3 does not allow third parties to collect personal information about your online activities over time and across different websites when you use the Site, other than the service providers listed above that operate the Site. If C3 adds analytics or advertising tools in the future, this policy will name them and explain how to opt out.
Links to other websites. The course page links to other websites, including Amazon, for course books and materials. When you follow a link, the other site's own privacy policy applies, and that site may set its own cookies. C3 does not control and is not responsible for other sites' practices.
Do Not Track. Some browsers offer a "Do Not Track" (DNT) setting. There is no common standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, and the Site does not currently respond to them.
C3 keeps personal information only as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including to maintain records of course enrollments, engagements, and payments, and to meet legal, tax, and accounting requirements. Information from inquiries that do not become engagements is kept as long as needed to run conflict checks for consulting and expert witness engagements. Records related to consulting and expert witness engagements are kept as provided in the engagement agreement or as required by law.
C3 uses reasonable measures to protect personal information, including relying on established service providers and limiting access to the information to C3's principal and the providers who need it. No website, email, or online system is completely secure, so C3 cannot guarantee the security of information sent over the internet.
You may ask C3 to:
To make a request, email [email protected] with the subject line "Privacy request." C3 may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request. We strive to respond within 30 days.
This policy is written to meet the California Online Privacy Protection Act (CalOPPA), which requires websites that collect personal information from California residents to post a privacy policy.
The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, applies only to businesses that meet certain size thresholds, such as annual revenue above the amount set by law or handling the personal information of 100,000 or more California consumers or households. Based on its current size, C3 does not believe it meets those thresholds. Even so, C3 honors the requests described in section 8 for anyone who asks, and C3 does not sell personal information.
California residents may also ask whether C3 has shared personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes (California Civil Code section 1798.83). C3 does not share personal information for that purpose.
The Site and C3's services are intended for adults and are not directed to children under 16. C3 does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided personal information to C3, please email us and C3 will delete it.
C3 may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When it does, C3 will post the updated policy on this page and change the effective date at the top. If a change is significant, C3 will also post a notice on the Site and email current students. Your continued use of the Site after an update means the updated policy applies.
