Effective date: September 26, 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") apply to your use of cherenkovcodeconsulting.com and its related pages, including the course booking, checkout, and student portal pages on its subdomains (together, the "Site"), and to enrollment in C3's online courses. The Site is operated by Cherenkov Code Consulting LLC ("C3," "we," or "us"), a California limited liability company based in the Sacramento area.
By using the Site or enrolling in a course, you agree to these Terms and to C3's Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
C3 provides building code consulting, expert witness and litigation support, and building code training. Training includes a live online ICC B1 exam-prep course and live online training for contractor teams.
Contacting C3, submitting a form, or having a free introductory call does not create a consulting, expert witness, or other professional relationship. That relationship begins only when C3 and the client sign a written agreement. C3 checks for conflicts of interest before accepting any engagement and may decline any request.
Content on the Site, in emails, and in free introductory calls is general information about building codes and C3's services. It is not legal, engineering, or architectural advice, and it is not a code interpretation for your specific project.
You agree to use the Site only for lawful purposes. You agree not to:
C3 may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Site at any time.
Price. The regular price of the 2024 IRC B1 exam-prep course is $900. Students in the Fall 2026 founding cohort pay $675. Prices shown on the Site may change, but a change will not affect a course you have already paid for. Any discounts are described at the time of enrollment.
Enrollment. Your seat is confirmed when you enroll through the course checkout page and complete payment. Payments are processed by Stripe. You will receive class details by email.
Live online format. All sessions are taught live online, with real-time questions and answers. You are responsible for having a reliable internet connection and a device that can join the sessions.
Schedule changes. C3 may reschedule a session if needed and will notify enrolled students by email as early as possible. If C3 cancels a course before it starts, enrolled students may choose either a refund of tuition minus the non-refundable 3% processing fee described in section 5, or a seat in the next cohort.
Founding cohort. The Fall 2026 cohort is C3's founding cohort. It covers the full course curriculum, and students may be asked for feedback that helps shape future cohorts. The order or format of some material may change during the founding cohort.
Course books are not included. The official code book and other materials used in class must be purchased separately. See section 9 for links to third-party sellers.
ICC exams. The ICC B1 exam is administered by the International Code Council, not by C3. Registering for, scheduling, and paying for the exam is your responsibility. The course is designed to help you prepare, but C3 does not guarantee that you will pass.
You may cancel your course enrollment within 7 days of your purchase or before the first class session starts, whichever comes first. Approved refunds return the tuition you paid, minus a non-refundable processing fee of 3% of that tuition. For example, a $675 enrollment refunded under this policy returns $654.75. The processing fee covers payment-processing costs that are not returned to C3 when a charge is refunded.
After that point, the course fee is not refundable.
To request a refund, email [email protected] from the email address you used to enroll, with the subject line "Refund request." Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method.
Recordings. Live sessions are recorded. Enrolled students receive access to the recordings, including sessions they miss. Recordings remain available for at least 6 months after the course ends. By joining a live session, you understand that your name, voice, video (if your camera is on), and chat messages may appear in the recording. If you prefer not to appear, you may keep your camera off and use only your first name. You may also make your own recording of a live session for your personal study. Your own recordings are for your use only: do not share, post, sell, or distribute them, and delete or stop sharing them if C3 asks. Because other students may also be recording, anything you say or show in a live session may appear in their recordings too.
Your license. C3 grants you a limited, personal, non-transferable license to view the recordings and use the course materials for your own study while you are enrolled and for at least 6 months after the course ends. You may not:
C3 may end your access, without a refund, if you break these rules.
The Site and C3's course content, including text, slides, recordings, handouts, and the IRC bookmarking system taught in class, are owned by C3 or used with permission, and are protected by copyright and other laws. Except for the limited license in section 6, nothing in these Terms gives you any rights to C3's content, name, or logo.
The International Residential Code and other model codes are copyrighted by the International Code Council. C3's course and materials do not replace the official code books.
"ICC," "International Code Council," "International Residential Code," "IRC," and ICC exam and certification names are trademarks of the International Code Council, Inc. C3 is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the International Code Council. C3 uses these names only to describe the codes and exams its courses cover. C3's principal holds ICC certifications and teaches ICC codes, but C3's courses are not ICC programs.
The Site links to other websites, including Amazon, for course books and materials. These links are provided for convenience. C3 does not control other websites and is not responsible for their content, products, prices, or policies. Purchases you make on other websites are between you and that seller.
Some links to Amazon are affiliate links. As an Amazon Associate, C3's owner earns from qualifying purchases made through those links, at no extra cost to you.
The Site, its content, and C3's courses are provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent the law allows, C3 disclaims all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. C3 works to keep Site content accurate, but codes and their local amendments change, and C3 does not warrant that Site content is complete, current, or error-free.
To the fullest extent the law allows, C3 and its owner will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, project delays, or lost data, arising from your use of the Site or a course, even if C3 was told such damages were possible.
To the fullest extent the law allows, C3's total liability for any claim relating to the Site or a course is limited to the amount you paid C3 for the course or service the claim relates to, or $100 if you paid nothing.
Some laws do not allow certain warranties or damages to be limited or excluded, so some of these limits may not apply to you. Liability for consulting, expert witness, and team training engagements is governed by the written agreement for that engagement.
You agree to hold harmless and indemnify C3 and its owner from claims, losses, and costs (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from your misuse of the Site or course materials or your violation of these Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute relating to these Terms, the Site, or a course will be brought only in the state or federal courts located in Sacramento County, California, and you and C3 agree to the jurisdiction of those courts.
C3 may update these Terms from time to time. When it does, C3 will post the updated Terms on this page and change the effective date at the top. Changes will not affect a course you have already paid for. Your continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the updated Terms.
If any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. C3's failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any written engagement agreement, are the entire agreement between you and C3 about the Site and courses.
